SOURCE: KSPR-TV ABC 33

Police are calling it one of the biggest drug raids in northeast Oklahoma and an elderly grandmother is the suspected ringleader.

According to Tulsa TV station KOTV, members of the Craig County Drug Task Force seized more than 270- thousand dollars, along with four pounds of marijuana from a house and vehicle near Vinita. The Vinita Chief of Police Bobby Floyd says the amount of confiscated cash is staggering and the suspect is surprising.

"It was just like shock. I can't believe this. This is a lady my grandmother's age, and I could never in a million years picture my own grandmother doing this."

Darlene Mayes is being held in the Craig County jail on several drug complaints and will likely be charged with drug trafficking. Investigators say the 73 year old grandma is likely responsible for 40 percent of the marijuana trade in the Grand Lake area.
